Principal's Message

Dear Vintage Crusher Community,

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! I am honored  to serve as principal of Vintage High School and excited to start the new school year.  We are beginning to see students and families on campus for team practices, meetings, etc.  We can’t wait to see more of you in the coming days as we prepare to open school for the 2022-23 school year.

For those of you who do not know me, I’d like to share a little about myself and my background.   I was born in and grew up in New Jersey.  I went to Dartmouth College in New Hampshire where I was a double major in French and Government.  As a college student I had the opportunity to work as a track and field coach for a local high school.  Around the same time, I began working for the language program at my college teaching French in the summer to high school students as well as English as a Second Language to adults.  I loved working with kids and helping people; I’d always been drawn to public service.  After college, I got my first teaching job at Squaw Valley Academy near Lake Tahoe and the rest is history as I have been working in education ever since.  I  taught French and AVID at Vintage High School for seven years and left only to take my first job in administration.  For the past nine years I have worked as vice principal and principal at Sonoma Valley High School.  I am thrilled and honored to return “home” to the Vintage community once again.

My family and I live in Napa.  We have two boys who are in elementary and middle school.  Like you, we juggle work and family, and a lot of our time is spent at my boys’
sporting events.  I also love to read, cook, hike and spend time outdoors.

One of my most important first jobs is to get to know every student and their family, and I
look forward to building strong relationships with you and with our greater VHS community.  Listening and learning from students and families is a huge key to helping students feel a strong sense of belonging and develop a willingness to meet academic challenges. I encourage our students to get connected and involved at VHS - we have an amazing school community with incredible opportunities in our academics, athletics, activities, arts and more.

Please know that my first priority is to ensure that your student is kept safe and feels welcome.  We are continuing to follow all health and safety protocols, and teachers are hard at work already planning welcoming activities as well as engaging academic lessons.  We look forward to partnering with you to ensure the safety and academic success of all our students.

We encourage you to access the multiple  communication platforms we use to communicate with families and keep them updated.  Follow us on social media and stay informed.  Each week, we will share our weekly newsletter via ParentSquare and this is a useful resource with updates and information regarding events, activities and opportunities for our students to get involved.  We also invite families to participate in family engagement nights.  Below is helpful information for the new 2022-23 school year, coming events and opportunities.

We are grateful for your partnership and THANK YOU for supporting our students.  Here’s to a great year at Vintage High;  TOGETHER, we can go far!

Sincerely,

Jessica Hutchinson
